Rhamnolipids amendment improves soil properties and enhances microecological functions in the saline-alkali soil

A laboratory-scale study was conducted to investigate the effect of rhamnolipids (RLs) supplement on amelioration saline-alkali soils. The RLs improved soil aggregates stability and promoted formation macro-aggregates which increased by up 10.84% 15.92% in alkaline saline soil, respectively. In addition, amendment led a pH reduction from initial 8.87 7.80–7.84 salt rejection 20.72% remarkably alleviating stress microorganisms plants. Meanwhile, microbial growth activity as well seed germination performance were greatly both types soil. Furthermore, addition altered community structure supported proliferation bacterial species (e.g., <i>Pseudomonas oleovorans</i>, stutzeri</i>, <i>Alcanivorax dieselolei</i>) that favored improvement properties nutrients circulation, thus markedly enhancing microecological functions including carbon nitrogen metabolisms. Further γ-PGA only exhibited promoting activity. findings obtained this prove application promising approach for amelioration.
